Who we are ?

TAAL+ Healthcare started as a community health centre in Pune back in the year 2006 for people living with HIV. Our name is our promise, and it's the reason people keep coming back to us.

We're a real clinic in Pune, not just a website. Our team of experienced HIV doctors and counselors works alongside our own on-site lab, and we've spent 20+ years supporting people through every stage of HIV care.

What TAAL stands for

  1. Treatment

Care from doctors who work in HIV every day.

  2. Adherence

Staying with you through follow-ups, not just the first visit.

  3. Advocacy

Pushing for stigma-free care, in the clinic and outside it.

  4. Literacy

Plain answers, so you understand every decision you make.

What is PrEP ?

PrEP stands for pre-exposure prophylaxis. It's a way of preventing HIV for people who don't have it but may be exposed to it over time. A doctor decides whether it suits you, starts it after testing, and checks in with you regularly.

What PrEP is not ?

PrEP is not a cure, and it is not a vaccine. It only works against HIV. Condoms and regular screening still matter for other infections. It works when used exactly as your doctor advises. It isn't for everyone, and we'll tell you honestly if you don't need it.

PrEP or PEP ?

They sound alike and they're often confused. Here's the difference.

PrEP Before exposure PEP After exposure
When Before any exposure, as ongoing prevention After a possible exposure, within 72 hours
Who People with ongoing possible exposure Anyone with a recent one-off exposure
How long Ongoing, with reviews every few months One Time, Advised as per Doctor
How urgent Planned, at your pace Time-critical, start ASAP

Who should consider PrEP ?

PrEP may be worth discussing with a doctor if any of these apply.

  • Your partner is living with HIV
  • You do not know a partner's HIV status
  • You have ongoing possible exposure to HIV
  • You have needed emergency prevention (PEP) more than once
  • You want an added layer of protection alongside condoms
  • You are unsure and want an honest medical opinion

A doctor will assess whether PrEP is suitable for you. It is not right for everyone, and the consultation exists to work that out.

How it works

A doctor taking notes while talking with a patient in a consultation
  1. Connect

Reach out to our counselor on Whatsapp, call or book your appointment, and share your concern.

  2. Consult

A confidential conversation about your situation and health history with experienced doctors, online or offline.

  3. Test & plan

Baseline tests, including an HIV test. If PrEP suits you, your doctor advises you further.

  4. Follow-up support

Continuous guidance from us until you are in the clear.

What happens when you message us ?

No forms, no questionnaire, no awkward questions over chat. This is what a first conversation looks like.

  1. Say hi on Whatsapp

Our counselor listens to your concerns and guides you accordingly.

  2. Consult a doctor

Our counselor will book your private paid consultation with a registered HIV doctor.

  3. Get tested

An HIV test and other required health checks, at our Pune lab or a partner lab near you.

  4. Start with a plan, if it suits you

Clear instructions, plus check-ins every few months with reminders from us.

Why people choose TAAL+

We're not just an app or a telehelpline. We're a clinic that is working in HIV care for 20+ years, and that experience shapes every consultation.

  1. We know HIV care from the inside

Our doctors and counselors have spent years supporting people living with HIV. When it comes to prevention, you're talking to people who understand the whole picture, not just one prescription.

  2. Online/offline consultation

Consult from any city at a time that suits you, or come to the clinic. Follow-ups can stay online.

  3. No judgment, ever

Our team has heard it all. We ask only what your care needs, and nothing about your life beyond that.

  4. Doctors, counselors and a lab under one roof

Consultation, testing and follow-up happen in one place, with one team. You don't get passed between strangers.

Worried about privacy ?

The things people worry about most, answered plainly.

Worried someone will find out?
Bills and receipts don't mention HIV or PrEP. Messages come from a regular phone number, and you choose how we contact you.
Who sees my records?
Only your doctor and care team. Nothing goes to employers, family, or anyone else without your consent.
Will anyone judge me?
No. Our team has worked in HIV care for decades. Nothing you tell us will surprise us, and we only ask what your care needs.

Common questions

How do I know if PrEP is right for me?
A doctor assesses your situation, health history, and test results, then gives you an honest recommendation. Sometimes that recommendation is that you do not need PrEP.
Do I need tests before starting?
Yes. A confirmed HIV-negative result plus baseline checks come first, so your doctor can advise safely.
How often are follow-ups?
Typically every few months, with repeat testing. Your doctor sets the schedule and the clinic sends reminders.
Are there side effects?
Some people experience side effects. Your doctor explains what to watch for, how they are managed, and when to get in touch.
Does PrEP protect against other infections?
No. It is for HIV prevention only. Condoms and regular screening still matter, and your doctor will cover both.
Can I stop PrEP later?
Yes, and it should be done with your doctor's guidance rather than on your own, so you stay protected through the transition.
Can I consult online from another city?
Yes. Consultations and follow-ups are available online across India, and in person at our Pune clinic.
Is this confidential?
Yes. Your consultation and records are handled by your care team only. See our privacy policy for details.
What does it cost?
Consultation fees are shared upfront. Your doctor explains any further costs during the consultation, before you commit.
